In the previous articles at Inspirit, concerning RSS Feed and Email Subscriptions, we have discussed:

* why should you start working to increase your email subscribers because they are so important, and
* how to customize the FeedBurner email subscription form.

Considering that a blog’s feed count i.e the number of subscribers at a blog are so significant in deciding the popularity of a blog, I and Audee (from Graphic Identity) have worked out this article that tells you some of the most effective tips on increasing the number of email subscribers at your blog.

Yes, these 8 tips are not the only ways you can boost the number of email subscribers at your blog, but are just a few of them. I’ll be touching this topic again in my future posts with more ideas to help you market you blog’s content by increasing your number of (RSS and) Email subscribers.

Before you go, implement anything else.. here’s one Universal Tip (Thanks for the heads-up, Michael ) that you should always bear in mind:

Write Killer Content or Any other Tips Won’t Help Much.

If you are fairly serious about promoting your blog then go right through the entire length of this post and learn from this 8 points compilation that we have put together after spending a great deal of our time.

1. Accessibility: Placing the Subscription Form at the right place

Your email subscription form should be such placed that it is most easily noticed and can be reached without any hassles. The top of the sidebar is a good place to put up the subscription options. Some bloggers choose to add the subscribe-by-email form on the top of the blog post (below the header), but for many… this is more of a distraction.

Placement of the subscription form is one of the most important but often over-looked factors that can greatly affect your feed-count in either positive or negative way.

2. Asking your reader to subscribe

It’s a good practice to append a short-note to the end of your post reminding the reader about the available subscription options. You should customize this note in a way that proves the most effective for you.

Try to read and learn how other bloggers around you are doing it. Play around a bit, till you find something that really works for you.

3. Customizing the Email Subscription Form

In one of my tutorial posts about Customizing the FeedBurner Email Subscription Form at your Blog, you can see how I added a simple subscribe-via-email form to the end of my post. If you can customize your email subscription form just the right way, you can empower yourself to place it anywhere on your blog and reap its benefits.

This serves the purpose of asking your readers for subscribing to your feed (see #2 above), as well as is a good placement tactic (see #1 above.)

4. Customize the Post Footer with better CSS

The best way to highlight your email subscription form is to customize your post footer with better CSS design. Just create a box with different background color and border for your note.

Even if you don’t have any idea about how to customize CSS, don’t worry. Just make sure that you set your note apart from the rest of the post with different headings or font colors.

5. Adding an attractive image and linking it to the subscribe page.

If you take a look at my recent post about why email subscribers are important and why should you starting working on increasing them, you’ll see that I have added fancy RSS buttons to the post itself and linked them to the email subscription page. If someone finds these graphic buttons attractive, most probably they’ll click on them and convert into a subscriber.

6. Email Branding: Customize the RSS you mail out as an e-Newsletter

Add some spice to a subscriber’s reading experience by pimping, the email updates you send out, like an e-Newsletter. You can customize the title of your RSS Feed, add a logo to the header or show related posts in the footer (options available with FeedBurner.) People will help you in your marketing campaign if they like what they see.

7. Writing Often: Keeping your blog updated

I am often asked a question by my readers that how do the posting frequency at a blog affect the number of subscribers at your blog. A point they put forward is if someone gets an email once in a while, why one would want to unsubscribe from your blog even when you’re delivering quality content.

My answer to this question is that if one has subscribed to your blog knowing that you offer quality content, one would want to receive it! And if it doesn’t come over for days or weeks together, why should he be wasting time and mailbox space for you, when he can get as good content from numerous other blogs around more frequently.

Well, this doesn’t really mean that you have to publish 2 or 3 posts everyday! Posting every day, on alternate days, 4-5 days a week or whatever way you’re comfortable but update your blog so often that your readers do not opt-out of the subscription.

8. Submit your feed URL to Feed Directories and RSS Aggregators

Submitting your feed URLs to feed directories and RSS aggregators can help you get more exposure to your feed and to the blog itself. If you have good content to offer, chances of visitors subscribing to your blog increase manifolds.

Submitting your blog’s RSS feed URL to sites like Feedest (Social Feed Reader and Directory) even boosts your Technorati authority by giving you a valid link back and helps widening your blog’s reach and popularity. Email subscribers generally increase in direct proportion to these metrics.

—

This is not the first time that anyone is touching this topic, and there are a number of other good resources where you can find interesting and useful tips on increasing your RSS subscribers. These are some articles from the blogosphere that you might find resourceful:

* 35 Guaranteed Ways to Increase Your RSS Subscribers

Audee from Graphic Identity design blog submitted this guest post stressing on why should you work to increase your email subscribers and particularly why should you use Feedburner Email Subscription for this purpose.

Working on your email subscriptions (especially using Feedburner) is quite important in more ways than one. Here’s, why:

1. Stability of the subscriber numbers

FeedBurner counts an email subscriber for as long as they can send them emails. Unlike a RSS reader, if your email subscribers haven’t read your feed sent by email for several days, it is still counted. The count stops only when any subscriber choose to opt-out of the email subscription.

2. Estimating the REAL popularity of your blog

If someone chooses to subscribe to your blog by email, it simply means that they are actually quite interested in the content that you offer at your blog. It means that someone found your content worthy of finding place in their inbox.

Because email subscribers are that important part of your readership that will actually stick to your blog, the number of email subscriptions will tell you how many people actually “follow” you and how popular your blog really is.

3. Practical Consideration

Besides email subscription, FeedBurner offers their subscribers to keep track of syndicated online content within an RSS aggregator or reader (e.g. My Yahoo! FeedDemon, etc.)

Some people (including Abhinav) think that following blog feeds using a reader can become quite impractical when you subscribe to many blogs and can’t find time to read each and every new post. This can become quite irritating when you have to mark all of these blogs as read to stop seeing the unread-flashes everywhere, all the time.

With email subscription capability, subscribers receive the latest posts from their favorite blogs right in their inbox, similar to an e-newsletter. Plus, one can read the updates anytime they like to.

4. Focusing on the content, primarily

A blog might have a heavy design that might take ages to load for people who don’t have access to hi-speed internet and can especially be a painful experience for mobile (GPRS) users as well. Email subscription delivers just the content of a blog-post, thus letting your subscribers focus on your content with minimal distraction.

5. Full management control of your blog subscribers

If you’re using FeedBurner for managing the subscribers to your blog, you probably know how easy it is to manage your email subscribers list. It is easy to activate, deactivate or delete individual email addresses (in case you find that the subscriber is violating any terms of use).

FeedBurner allows you to export your list in Excel or CSV format. You can export these addresses and move from FeedBurner to another service at any time. You will also receive an optional email when people decide to unsubscribe from your updates.

6. Easy social bookmarking and sharing with FeedBurner FeedFlare

This feature available with FeedBurner allows you to add links to social bookmarking sites in the footer of each of your blog updates sent to the subscribers using FeedBurner Email service. This allows your email subscribers to submit your blog posts to their favorite social blogging networks with great ease and convenience. This is a great blog-promotion strategy that will help you market your content. There’s no use of writing great content if people don’t get to know that it exists! Right?

What is Comment Moderation?

Comment moderation is a feature offered by most of the blogging platforms that allows you to prevent comments from appearing on your site without your express approval.

What do many bloggers think?

I know many bloggers around (I mean bloggers…) who almost consider enabling comment moderation, a principle. I talked to a few of such people and collected the reasons they give for enabling comment moderation.

To prevent Comment-Spam

To prevent displaying abusive comments

To control the comments that speak against the idea presented in their posts

I had stumbled upon a blog a few days ago that emphasized that you should enable comment-moderation on your blog and make it a habit to regularly approve the comments from the moderation queue.

What do I think?

I agree that comment moderation helps a lot in filtering out comment spam. Comment Spam is indeed a hated devil!

I also agree that you can dis-approve abusive comments and get rid of them. Abusing is not one of the blogger-traits. Its really important that the commentator should mind his tongue and tone while commenting. By abusing, you’ll never be defaming the blog-author but only bringing yourself a bad name, from the supporting readership that may include people/bloggers you know well. Certainly not a healthy thing to do.

I disagree that you should moderate the comments to filter out and dis-approve those comments that speak against the idea presented in your post. If you practice this, then your blog is not a blog but a personal website.

The essence of blogging is lost in one-way communication. Even if you believe that you are God, always bear in mind that there are atheists who don’t believe you. Also, the objective of criticism in comments at your blog is just getting into a discussion and extracting an optima out of it & not degrading you. Learn How to Respond to the Comments on your Blog effectively and try to take them as positively as you can.

But the point is,

Should You Enable Comment Moderation on Your Blog?

I have jotted down 4 main reasons why (I think) comment moderation should not be enabled on your blog:

Everyone knows how to use Delete function. If you monitor your blog regularly for new comments and/or are notified about new comments on your blog via email, then you should be able to remove irresponsible spammy comments in a little time from when they are posted.

If you approve comments from the moderation queue once or twice in a day, then its likely that during the time when the comments are held in moderation queue your visitors might miss a discussion that could have otherwise sparked up from an interesting idea or a form of criticism posted in a comment.

You can, by mistake, delete or dis-approve a genuine comment while bulk-moderating. And a commentator may form a negative impression by this unintended gesture. Instead, you can delete the abusive or irresponsible comments when they are displayed on your blog. The visitors who might have seen such comments on your blog will appreciate not seeing that content later on.

Only those bloggers use comment moderation to dis-approve comments that speak against the idea conveyed in their posts, who lack originality and fear getting exposed.

What do you think about this matter: Comment Moderation? Do you use comment moderation for holding up comments till you manually approve them or let all the comments appear on your blog but monitor them regularly and keep cleaning them up as soon as you spot a blot! Share your views, opinions and experiences with the rest of us reading this. Feel free to drop a comment and subscribe to the RSS feed to stay updated with the latest posts at Inspirit.

Guest-Blogging means authoring a post or a blog-entry at someone else’s blog without involving monetary issues. When paid for writing a post, it is then called a paid-post or a sponsored post rather than a guest post.

Here are,

7 ultimate reasons, why you should guest author at a blog:

Vent your thoughts outside your niche:
Packing yourself tightly in your own niche, for life, is not very healthy and not cent per cent comfortably possible even! You can restrict your writing to your blog’s niche but can not restrict your thoughts that keep coming to your mind all the time. Sometimes you may have as much of such off-(your)-topic stuff in your head that you might make a brilliant post out of it. You may not want to disturb the theme of your own blog for posting it and here’s where guest authoring at a blog themed in sync to your thoughts can help you vent out your ideas and creativity. Opportunities for guest-blogging are not limited in your own niche as well.

Get opinion and feedback on your other side:
As I cleared out in the previous point, you can comfortably go off your blog’s niche as a guest blogger from where you can gather opinion and feedback on your other side. You can know how well you can do in unexplored dimensions. You get comments on your story and realize the positives and negatives in your style of writing and way of communicating your ideas to the readers.

Get Noticed:
Guest blogging is one of the fastest ways to reach a new audience. Get exposure to a wider audience than just your own readership base. You are noticed and even rated by this foreign audience. Your writing skills, thoughts and ideas get recognition and may even be promoted by the host and the new readers alike.

Drive traffic and readers to your own blog:
With all the exposure your guest-posts can get you, you can drive a considerable amount of traffic to your own blog through the host blog. Generally, a link back to your blog is a gift of gratitude by the host in your guest post. But of course, the traffic and readership you get depends on the popularity of the blog you are writing on, your style of writing, your communication skills, your language and tone as the prime factors.

Social Networking:
Guest blogging nicely helps you to connect with a wide audience and also the host you are writing for. Guest blogging helps you to better-up communication with new people, helps you to know them and understand their tastes and also help them to know more about you as a blogger. You are likely to make new friends at social networks like Blog Engage, BlogCatalog, Digg, StumbleUpon, MyBlogLog and probably many more depending on what you are using for promotion purposes. This can be of great utility in blog branding and promotion in the long run.

Improve yourself:
You learn with every reaction you get to a guest post, and always try to improve with every post you write after that, whether on your own blog or at someone else’s. You may not take anything seriously when said about you on your own blog (ok! you do… cool) but when something is said at some other place that can have a different and mighty effect.

It is fun:
If you are too free some time, then guest blogging can help you get busy and dock your mind. An idle mind, we all know, is a devil’s workshop. Besides, there’s nothing like experimenting with new things (if you haven’t tried it yet!) Having fun & adventure is the key to enjoy blogging- whether you are doing it at your blog or someone else’s.

Personally, I found early recognition for myself as a blogger by guest authoring at RT’s Untwisted Vortex. I did it for the sake of trying out a new thing for fun and adventure, but it turned out to be a great learning experience. It also drove a good deal of his readership to my blog and helped me getting noticed. It helped me improve myself in a great way. You see me writing here, the way I can because I was exposed to a different atmosphere than the small world I was living in.

Amanda Nicole, of from Ink to Ether, guest authors Inspirit and the two posts that she has made have made quite a mark on Inspirit readership and continue to get good deal of traffic everyday. I have also wanted myself to get into Guest-Blogging again, but some personal problems like long college timings and other stuff keep me occupied day and night. I am trying to manage my time as effectively as I can, and I hope to just make it soon.

I have just explained to you some great reasons why you should be guest blogging. Do you have any more? Have you been guest blogging for someone? Or have any guest bloggers for yourself? Feel free to drop a comment and share your experiences.

Comments (on blogs/blog-posts) are defined as written remarks about anything that gets published on your blog. Comments are not be a part of writing the original post, but are just as important as the rest of the content on your blog. Comments on a blog/post are a measure of the activity going on your blog for the new visitors. So, you should seriously work out (by writing a quality blog post!) to get more of these. But keep one very important thing in mind: Don’t try to get just comments! Try to get people and thoughts…

Sometimes the discussions, that catch up in the comments to a specific post, can be more interesting than that blog-post itself. You still have to read the post to fully understand the context of the discussion, but the comments can really give it another taste. Then, aim to participate in the discussion by replying to any comments you get. Sometimes you’ll agree with points that argue your post, sometimes you’ll disagree. If you’re sure about how you feel before you post, you’ll be able to join in the discussion and put across your views. But doing this effectively is a skill that you should learn to master to make it big in the blogosphere! Now, this is the point of this particular post that we’ll now talk about.

How to Respond to Comments Effectively:

You can not respond to comments if you have none! Work out to get comments.
Write quality posts using good titles and impressive openings. Chose your topics carefully and base your posts on your own experiences. Paragraphs and headings make your post more “readable” and easy to follow as your ideas are brought out clearly. Ask your readers a few questions in your post that will make them think and leave a comment.

Try to get a discussion started in your comments. The trick is to do wild-card-writing.
I am not sure if there’s any such term but I’ll explain what I mean with this. Keep one abstract of your write-up with yourself and don’t share it in the post. Let the commentator touch it in his response. If he hits the point, go support him stating why you agree and if the abstract is missed in a first few comments, Go ahead and hit it yourself!

Identify Comment Spam.
Like e-mail spam, Robot “spambots” flood a blog with advertising in the form of bogus comments. This is a serious problem that requires you to have tools to exclude some users or ban some addresses in comments. Identify comment-spam and delete or block it as soon as possible.

Use a threaded comments plugin. This allows the comments to be nested in a tree-like structure.
This makes it easier to respond individually to each comment as your reply will be nested within that individual’s comment. This is a clean way to increase the number of comments to your post without giving an impression that you are flooding your own comments.

When no such plug-ins are available (as in Blogger/Blogspot) then do not make the mistake of replying to reader comments by making one comment in reply to each reader!
( This way of commenting at Net Entrepreneur, if discarded makes Alex’s blog all the more better. He’s learning and I hope he’ll find this post useful.)

Your Language, Tone and Attitude is important.
Be polite & humble. Take all your comments positively! If someone says your post sucks, then take it like a man. Don’t start flaming right away but just try believing that you really suck even when you know you don’t. This will help you improve a lot and make sure that next time a commentator won’t have a chance to say so. You can make a humble reply saying that you can re-visit your opinions and ideas.

How to make a single reply to multiple comments:

This is a fairly simple thing to do. Simple highlight the name of the user you are replying to and in normal formatting add your reply. Then append the next reply to the end of first, in a similar fashion.

Here’s how I used to reply in a single comment when I didn’t use Yet Another Threaded Comments Plugin (Download Here) :::

@ Commentator1

Reply to Commentator one....

@ Commentator2
Reply to Commentator two....

... And So on ...

Or another simple method :::

Commentator1 :: Reply to Commentator one

Commentator2 ::Reply to Commentator two

... And So on ...

These are some great ways to get into a healthy relationship with your readers through comments. You and as well as your readers will love this spirit of participation at your blog and hence you can lay the foundation of a healthy and active readership base! Enjoyable to already-your-readers and Inspirit to the new visitors…

Like my post?
Any ideas, suggestions, opinions and view-points are most welcome through the comments.

What is Entrecard:

Entrecard system is an easy-networking and free advertising network, that has recently emerged as a popular way of bringing traffic to your website and when used wisely, can bring targeted traffic to your website or blog. Entrecard is a 125 x 125 graphic image that represents your blog. You can think of this graphic image as your Internet Business Card, that you can use for free or paid advertising campaigns.

How does Entrecard work:

When you sign up for the service, you can generate a widget that allows you to create a 125 x 125 advertising space in your sidebar, where others can drop their Entrecard. Similarly, you can drop your own Entrecard in the widgets of other members of Entrecard network. This way you can exchange Entrecards across the Blogosphere.

The Use:

Exchanging an Entrecard with someone means a form of networking between you and that person, who has to be a blogger, just like you are. Dropping as well as receiving an Entrecard increases your entrecard credits by one each. You can check your Entrecard credits by logging into your dashboard at Entrecard[dot]Com. These credits can later be used to launch advertising campaigns which enable you to display your Entrecard in someone else’s widget which will link through to your blog. The credit costs are on a per day basis rather than monthly basis as with regular advertising.

The Catch:

As dropping cards increases your credits, so everyone in the system likes to drop cards at anyone with a Entrecard widget installed on his blog. This has, however, turned in to a Hit-&-Run scenario with most of the Entrecard users, who do nothing more than chain-surfing by dropping an Entrecard at your widget and then move to the one displayed in your widget. This makes their visit to your blog not more than 5 or 6 seconds long. Many bloggers around have shown a dislike for such kind of good-for-nothing traffic, which generally forms 65%-95% of the total Entrecard traffic; and either have not signed up for the system or given it up. They will agree that Entrecard has given them a good enough traffic boost, but dislike the fact that most of it is not the quality traffic they are looking for.

How to Convert 100% of your Entrecard Visitors into Quality Traffic:

Converting all of your Entrecard traffic into good quality and targeted traffic is no trick! Just read further, give the whole point, a thought and say, “Oh! This is common sense.”

It is wrong and foolish to see only the negative aspect of Entrecard traffic and giving up on the service. It would be so ethical not to indulge into any such hit-and-run activity yourself, to keep the spirit of healthy and true networking alive! But you don’t need to cry over the fact that others don’t practice the ethics. The good crowd is already doing their job by actively participating at your blog, if it interests them but the most of this traffic that we know to be of chain-surfers who move from blog to blog, dropping cards to increase their credits, at the same time increase your credits as well!

Don’t overlook this part. Instead of taking measures to curb this activity or not using Entrecard because you can’t go down on principles, promote this culture on your blog! This can greatly help you in following two ways: This will give you enough credits to launch an advertising campaign at a internet-biggie blog that can then give you still more targeted quality traffic, than you were already getting from your Entrecard.

Whether, the “bad guys” stay at your blog for 5 seconds or 10! You can have peaks of amazing heights in your traffic chart, that you can use to brag about in the neighborhood, at least, even if it isn’t doing any other good.

So, If you liked this post, like my content and my blog! you are most welcome to drop your Entrecard at my blog… And if you arrived here just chain-surfing… You are more welcome my friends! I am urgently in need of a large number of Entrecard Credits to promote my blog at still better places.

(This is a guest author article.)

Nowadays everyone has a blog, which means there are many, many blogs out there. But who are the bloggers? Safe behind the computer screen, bloggers make choices about the image, or persona, they’re casting outward, and these choices can affect traffic just as much as the content.

A big component in what sets your blog apart from others’ is your voice. Your voice is the overall manner in which you present your blog’s content. Are you confessional? Or are you authoritative? Do you open up the floor for comments by asking your readers questions, or do you tell it straight up without much room for debate? How is this affecting your traffic? Do your readers visit once and then vanish, or do they return regularly and comment freely? Do newcomers often comment, or does it take them a few visits until they feel comfortable to contribute?

Your persona can also be formed through more indirect ways, such as your profile picture and your “About” section or page. Is your picture a casual, accessible photo of yourself? Or is it slick, posed and professional? Do you even have a photo? And then there’s the About area: do you list off your accomplishments or your pets names?

Depending on the style of your blog (confessional, authoritative, how-to, etc.), you’ll want to consider how you’re coming across to visitors. A quick exercise in this would be to take a look at blogs you visit often and ask yourself what it is about the blog that makes you keep coming back. Chances are it has something to do with the person, or persona, behind it.

Do you make a conscious effort to project a certain persona through your blog? Or do you wing it? How do you find this affects your traffic?

I have been receiving requests from many readers to tell them how to customize the FeedBurner Email Subscription Form and today I came across a Blog Catalog discussion by a friend who wanted to know the same. So I decided to compile a How-To about the same.

So here’s it. Let us look at the HTML code of the Feedburner Email Subscription Form

{form style="border: 1px solid #cccccc; padding: 3px; text-align: center" action="http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverify" method="post" target="popupwindow" onsubmit="window.open('http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/
emailverifySubmit?feedId=1514663', 'popupwindow', 'scrollbars=yes,width=550,height=520');return true">Subscribe to Inspirit Blog's RSS Feed via Email:{input style="width: 160px" name="email" value="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~e?ffid=1514663" type="text" /}{/form}

Replace all curly brackets { and } to pointed brackets < and > please; Do a find and replace.

Explanation of the code:

form style="border: 1px solid #cccccc; padding: 3px; text-align: center

Change the border by changing the value against border; px implies width in pixel. In above line of code, the border is 1 pixel-wide.

Change the color of form by varying #HTML color. The color is specified as #RRGGBB where R is red, G is green, B is blue. The combinations can be set by using the hexadecimal values for each R G B i.e 0 to 9 and A to F.

Change the padding of the form, again measured in pixel width, by varying the value against padding in the above line of code.

Change the text alignment by varying the value against text-align in the above piece of code. You can chose : left, right or center.

action="http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverify" method="post" target="popupwindow" onsubmit="window.open('http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/
emailverifySubmit?feedId=1514663', 'popupwindow', 'scrollbars=yes,width=550,height=520');return true">

Keep this part exactly the same, just replace the feedId shown in red color with your own feedId that is same as the number in the end of the link to your dashboard at Feedburner. This part of code opens a separate Pop-up window measuring 550×520 px.

{input style="width: 160px" name="email" value="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~e?ffid=1514663" type="text" /}{/form}

This part tells you the width of the input form as displayed on your blog. Change the parameter against width in the above piece of code to vary the width of input form.

*****

Go Ahead! Play with the HTML code and customize it appropriately for use on your blog. Don’t forget to change the feedId; and replace { with < & } with >.

If you liked my post then :::

Subscribe to Inspirit Blog’s RSS Feed via Email:

What is PayPerPlay?

All of you must have heard of PayPerPlay by this time. Its not news anymore. For those who don’t know, PayPerPlay is an advertising program, that requires you to put your unique ad code in your blog template that will play audio ads for every visitor on your website/blog. There is no clicking involved at any point of generating revenue for you, as you are paid every time an audio ad is played on your website, that simply means each visit on your site pays you! Besides the audio-ads concept of revenue generation, you can promote the program using your referral link and earn more money by bringing in, more affiliates and partners for the program.

Should you be using PayPerPlay?

Talking about myself, I have never liked any websites that start playing music or “promotional lectures” when loaded. It is so un-cool to play voices when you are casually surfing with your own kind of music playing in your favorite media player. It will be such an irritation to keep on hearing coarse voices every time you visit a site of interest with PPP audio-ad code installed. And what when you visit 10 websites in a day and 8 out of them play these kind of audio ads?

While this can be a good source of revenue as no clicking is involved anywhere, but I wont like to hear silly voices that I will not be interested in, often. It would be impossible to tolerate voice ads when I view my own website again and again when I am playing with my theme and widgets. And certainly not possible to manually remove-and-insert ad code every other while!

Similar is the opinion of majority of people I came across in a discussion on PP, on various forums.

Will you be using PPP?

PayPerPlay wants me to be dishonest !

I had signed up for PPP a while ago, on the request of a friend through his referral ID. I got my own referral link on signing up and added one of my blogs and installed the add code, just for testing it as I am not going to use PPP in any way. Yesterday, I got an email from PPP that asks me to be dishonest with my readers.

PPP: You May Be Losing Your Sign-Ups

Hello Abhinav,

… some text … some text … some text …

The reason I bring this up is because the only way that
sellingppp.com would get any traffic is because of you.
With this fact in mind we find it interesting that we
continue to get sign-ups by the thousands under the main
account. Very little traffic comes from the search engines,
the rest is coming from affiliates.

The point I am trying to make is the only way we could be
getting that many direct sign-ups is because people are
ripping the affiliate ID off of affiliate links and just
going straight to sellingppp.com and bypassing the affiliate
all together.

This is a strong case for the fact that you should

“absolutely” cloak your affiliate link.

This is just a heads-up … If you are not cloaking then
you are losing sign-ups.

A free tutorial on cloaking your affiliate link is
available here:
http://www.seo2020.com/ppp/cloaking-your-affiliate-link.html

If you already have a web host then you should take the
time to get your affiliate link cloaked. It only takes a
few minutes.

If you don’t have a web host or your own PPP domain name
then we will set everything up for you at a price that
is lower than you can find anywhere else for similar
services. Further, we will set up your website, email and
cloaking for you.

PPP is in its beta currently and is gathering affiliates from the referrals its members are making. When I had talked about Getting 1 Million Real Visitors in NEXT 30 Days, I had clearly mentioned that the link I have used in my entire post is a referral link, to the T2000Ultra network.

I am not tricking my readers into a fraud that I should cloak my links. I have always been honest in everything that I have talked about on my blog. And it is certainly of no use to cloak links and push unwilling readers into any of the networks. And if they are willing to enjoy the benefits that a website talks about, they will even join with the referral link, no matter what… This is not a very appreciable approach to building a base, by PPP! And its discouraging me further from using PayPerPlay anytime in future.

Let me know what you think. Leave me a comment.

Let me keep it simple, short and sweet. Here are the screen-shots of the blog stats from BlogCatalog, for two of my blogs:

This one is for techXtreme, that is hosted on Blogger:

This one is for Inspirit Blog, a self-hosted blog:

You can clearly see that the total views and total hits for Inspirit Blog are a way less than for techXtreme, but still it ranks far higher than it. In fact, for the same increase in the number of views and number of hits for each blog, the Blog Rank of a self-hosted blog rises faster than a blog hosted on Blogger Dot Comm or WordPress Dot Comm.

This is the simplest and just one of the many reasons that a self-hosted blog is better. Time to make a move, for those who haven’t already did so.
