KeywordLuv – Target your Keywords in Backlinks from Comments at DoFollow Blogs

212 CommentsWhen you leave a comment at any WordPress blog by filling in your name and website URL in the respective fields, your name appears as a link to your blog/website on submission. By default, these links have rel=”nofollow” attribute attached to them. This attribute directs the search engine spiders / crawlers not to follow the linked website or blog. The link may get indexed but it is not followed (or counted as a backlink) from the blog that links.
However, some blogs reward their commentators by removing the rel=”nofollow” attribute from their templates which gives them free backlinks! Such blogs are called DoFollow Blogs or No-NoFollow Blogs. BTW, Inspirit is also a doFollow blog so drop in maximum comments to get some free links from this PR 4 blog

WordPress Plugin : KeywordLuv
As I told you, when you comment at a WordPress blog your name becomes the anchor text in the link that points to your blog or specific blog post, as per what you submitted in the URL field. KeywordLuv plugin has been developed (by Stephen Cronin) to reward your commentators by separating their names from their keywords in the link to their website, giving them improved anchor text.
So, if you’re commenting at a doFollow blog then you can use targeted keywords as anchor text to point the links to your blog or blog post, instead of using your name. KeywordLuv plugin requires a the blog to be doFollow in order to work, because linking using your keywords would be of no use unless these links are followed by search engines (Google esp.) !
Usage:
Using KeywordLuv is quite easy. If I enter Abhinav @ Free Blog Reviews in the name field instead of just Abhinav in the comment form, then the title of a comment would look like :
Abhinav from Free Blog Reviews says :
instead of :
Abhinav says :
The symbol @ does the magic here. If this symbol is not used between Name and Keywords, they’ll appear as they would normally on a WordPress blog with this plugin not installed.
The usage tip generally gets added to your comment form automatically and you can customize this message that appears from the plugin options page on your admin dashboard.

If you are running a link building campaign to get better ranks in the SERPS and improving your Technorati Authority, then consider commenting at blogs no-follow free blogs with either or both CommentLuv and KeywordLuv plugins enabled as an easy way to get free backlinks.

P.S. : As I mentioned above, this plugin needs a doFollow plugin to be installed on your blog to function properly. Read How to Remove rel=”noFollow” from your blog and join the doFollow movement to learn more about NoFollow, DoFollow and how to remove the noFollow attribute from your blog.

I think it makes sense to call it “Keyword Luv”… after all, that’s what it’s doing; enabling people to promote their websites/blogs while at the same time leaving meaningful comments (as opposed to being anonymous spammers, boo).
That’s an interesting idea. It could be done for blogger very easily… Most people I doubt are willing to go to that kind of trouble for commenters though.

Wow, This is a great plugin. I really hope that the do follow movement does not die out. While it might not be good for google, it is great for blogging.
I agree that encouraging comments is a great thing – even if the people reading are just commenting to get that link. As long as they read, contribute to the article and put something intelligent – then they should have that link there. It is a good service to help other people get those links.
This plugin is really great. I think it could be even better if it had the “remove no-follow” function builtin. Without Do-Follow this plugin doesn’t really make sense. Onn the other hand, blogger who care so much about their readers and install KeywordLuv normally know what they are doing and will install a do-follow plugin, too.
yes, integrating “remove no-follow” code was a good idea.. but the plugin author has explained why he hasn’t added it to his plugin.
There are already too many plugins for that purpose out there, and duplicating any of them is certainly not a good idea.

I do think there are a lot of plugins and it is taxing to weed out the bad ones – however the good make it worth it. I’ve saved tons of time with various software tools. Hopefully they’ll merge some so as to simplify the amount of research needed to find the good programs!
This is a great idea and when someone posts on my blog, I would rather give them anchor text than just a link with their name on it. I can’t understand why other blog owners care ~ a link is a link. I already have the dofollow installed, so I will now take your advice and get the keywordluv. I always see commentluv associated with the keywordluv which I am not sure I want to do yet.

Keyword luv is a great way to help readers of your site. it allows them to use words they like and still not ruin post. Comment luv is another great one for blogs because it shows latest post and can deliver good traffic. I like both pluggings they work great.

The Do Follow is really changing the game for the better. And the keyword LUV takes it one step further. It is great for both Bloggers and the one who comments. I like the Do Follow movement.
I notice alot of the blogs that now use keyword luv are gaing pr. Not sure if it is all the activity of the comments or link backs or lists of the sites on other sites. Either way people love the plugin it seems to help both the site owner and the people who comment on the sites.

keywordluv is the best thing since sliced bread. seriously. if you are going to the trouble of commenting on someone’s post, the least they can offer you is a complimentary backlink that benefits you. it’s like a token payment of respect for your time invested into building their website.
No Follow blogs with Keyword/Comment Luv are great for getting people to contribute and im sure the number of comments you get has increased. I do still see some peoples blogs who have Keyword/Comment Luv and are still NoFollow, what is the point it doing that? Nice blog by the way though – bookmarked.
I have to agree with some prior comments here in regards to KeywordLuv and CommentLuv being a great method for a blog owner to reward quality comments. Probably the biggest downside to both plug-ins is the potential for comment spam.
I’ve got both plugs installed on some of my blogs. While the comment activity is up, so is the comment spam. I get comments like “Nice post”, “Great info”, “Good point”. Clearly these folks are using some type of commenting software that targets blogs with pre-loaded crappy comments.

I think that Commentluv and Keywordluv are great additions to any blog and though many people mention the potential increase in spammy and useless comments, I really don’t think that it is the plugin that encourage it – pretty much any blog has that problem irrespective of the plugins on the site.

I wish more bloggers would use Keyword Luv! I think it really benefits both sides. People are more likely to leave comments because they know they will get a little link luv. The blog owners get the benifit of a blog with a lot of activity on it. It’s win win for both.
How to find out if the blog is do follow or no follow and what is the default set-up for a blog? In default mode will the blog be in do-follow or no-follow mode?
By default wordpress blogs have the nofollow attribute added to comments.

Thanks for the useful post, and debate in the comments. There are pros and cons to KeywordLuv and CommentLuv. For me, CommentLuv has a slight advantage as it provides a deep-link to a blog post, as well as a general link to the homepage. Assuming you have keywords in your post-titles, you get the best of both.

I’ve just started using this plugin. The comments so far have created a little concern, but I think the potential spam is manageable as long as my traffic remains low. I installed this plug in on a few of my blogs and the amount of comments went through the rough, I was please to find that people actualy had something interesting to say and were not just spamming

Keywordluv is a very nice plugin. It allows use of keyword in the name field. It also helps increase traffic to your website. Thanks for sharing the information.
However, some blogs reward their commentators by removing the rel=”nofollow” attribute from their templates which gives them free backlinks
This Keyword Luv plug-in is great for bloggers. I have installed the plug-in on several of my blogs. I am beginning to get traffic and comments from people in my niche.

This is a great idea and when someone posts on my blog, I would rather give them anchor text than just a link with their name on it. I can’t understand why other blog owners care ~ a link is a link. I already have the dofollow installed, so I will now take your advice and get the keywordluv. I always see commentluv associated with the keywordluv which I am not sure I want to do yet.
Since installing the KeywordLuv Plugin I have seen a bit of an increase in backlinks so very pleased about that. Couple of spam comments to deal with but I guess that was to be expected. Thanks again.

Keywordluv and commentluv are two plugins which makes me to stick with wordpress especially for moderating blogs. It is so valuable that promises good traffic and encourage visitors to post something meaningful which contributes to the actual topic of the post. My Las Vegas Real Estate blog has both the plugin enabled and I bet it saves me considerable amount of time by keeping natural spammers.

This is a good plugin. I found it 2 weeks ago when I was commenting one blog . This is a good way to help your readers , at least with a backlink . With the problem with this plugin is that many spammers will add useless comments !

keywordluv is great I always search for keyword luv sites and make a nice post on there. It’s one of my favourite plugins.

One thing I noticed about blogs with Keywordluv and dofollow is that it doesn’t really encourage discussion as it should…to most linkbuilders it becomes the same thing as when the blog didn’t have KL and was dofollow. And this is the sort of thing that forces some bloggers to shut down these plugins on their sites. It would be really great if you leave a good comment, and if someone replies to yours and starts a conversation, to actually reply back to them if they had a question or a clarification. This way, it’s a win-win situation–discussions are stimulated, blogs get traffic, everyone gets an exercise in writing and we all get more links.

KeywordLuv is indeed a great help because I heard feedback from a great friend of mine that eversince she used KeywordLuv, increased traffic and comments happened and she’s very thankful to that. But based on observations, sometimes KL doesn’t promote conversations and discussion per se. Just my two cents worth.
keywordluv and do follow plugin is very good for new blog but for medium up traffic blog it will hard to keep the comment spam free…
When searching for a blog such as this it is only nice to talk about what the site is about. Reading the posts here I have learned how to better market the Lake Tahoe Vacation Rentals site I work for. Thank you all for the info here.

I have been focusing on building links to my blog using these plug-ins and it is working quite nicely! I’ve also found blogs running the recent comments plug-in helpful. If you get listed as one of the recent people a link to your page appears on every page of their website. Good stuff!
